Marie’s German Fruit Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine, softened
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1 cup candied cherry, chopped
- 1 cup candied pineapple, chopped
- 1 cup dates, chopped
Recipe
- 1 beat margarine, sugar, and eggs until creamy.
- 2 stir in buttermilk.
- 3 add dry ingredients with nuts and fruit. mix well.
- 4 refrigerate dough at least 1 hour.
- 5 preheat oven to 400°.
- 6 drop dough by rounded teaspoonful about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
- 7 bake 8 to 10 minutes, until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly with finger.
- 8 remove to racks to cool.
