Marie’s German Fruit Cookies

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup candied cherry, chopped
  • 1 cup candied pineapple, chopped
  • 1 cup dates, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 beat margarine, sugar, and eggs until creamy.
  • 2 stir in buttermilk.
  • 3 add dry ingredients with nuts and fruit. mix well.
  • 4 refrigerate dough at least 1 hour.
  • 5 preheat oven to 400°.
  • 6 drop dough by rounded teaspoonful about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
  • 7 bake 8 to 10 minutes, until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly with finger.
  • 8 remove to racks to cool.
