Gina's Oatmeal Caramelita's

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, melted (3 sticks)
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped (peanuts, walnuts) (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups caramel ice cream topping
  • 3 tablespoons flour

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  • 3 combine the first 6 ingredients to form crumbs; press ½ of crumb mixture into pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  • 4 sprinkle the chocolate chips and nuts, if using, over the baked crumbs.
  • 5 mix together the caramel and the flour and drizzle over chocolate chips and nuts.
  • 6 sprinkle remaining crumbs over caramel topping.
  • 7 bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • 8 chill for easy cutting.
