Nutty Chocolate Shortbread

Ingredients
- 10 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/4 cups hazelnuts or 1 1/4 cups pecans or 1 1/4 cups walnuts or 1 1/4 cups almonds
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 sugar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 ounce semisweet chocolate
- 1 tablespoon butter
Recipe
- 1 preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 melt the 10 tablespoons of butter and set aside.
- 3 on a lightly greased baking sheet bake the nuts for 2-3 minutes. shake and bake for 2-3 more minutes.
- 4 in the food processor grind the nuts until fine.
- 5 add the flour and sugar and pulse a few times to mix. add the 10 tablespoons of butter and pulse again.
- 6 form the dough into two balls and press each of them into a buttered and floured 8 inch pie pan.
- 7 cut each of the rounds of dough into 16 slices.
- 8 bake on the middle oven rack for 20 - 25 minutes, or until pale golden. let cool on a rack before cutting again and inverting onto a plate.
- 9 while the dough is baking melt together the 1 tablespoon of butter and the chocolate. when the shortbread is finished baking drizzle a little on each slice.
