Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- 1/4 cup walnuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
- 1 cream butter and sugar; add whole egg, beat well; add dates, nuts and vanilla; mix well.
- 2 add flour and baking powder which have been sifted together. add milk gradually as the mixture must be stiff so that the rocks will hold their shape.
- 3 drop by teaspoon onto parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 4 bake at 350f for 15 minutes.
