Raisin Bars

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon clove, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups flour, all purpose
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup flour, all purpose
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 in a medium sauce pan over medium high heat add the sugar, raisins, water, butter, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and salt.
- 2 bring to a boil and gently boil for 3 minutes.
- 3 remove from heat and let cool (about 20 minutes).
- 4 preheat oven to 350°.
- 5 add other ingredients (except for the topping), to sauce pan and blend well.
- 6 spread in greased 10x15 pan.
- 7 combine all topping ingredients in a small bowl.
- 8 crumble topping over and press down slightly.
- 9 bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes.
- 10 cool before cutting.
