Raisin Bars

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour, all purpose
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup flour, all purpose
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 in a medium sauce pan over medium high heat add the sugar, raisins, water, butter, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and salt.
  • 2 bring to a boil and gently boil for 3 minutes.
  • 3 remove from heat and let cool (about 20 minutes).
  • 4 preheat oven to 350°.
  • 5 add other ingredients (except for the topping), to sauce pan and blend well.
  • 6 spread in greased 10x15 pan.
  • 7 combine all topping ingredients in a small bowl.
  • 8 crumble topping over and press down slightly.
  • 9 bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes.
  • 10 cool before cutting.
