Peach Walnut Spice Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 fresh peaches
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. beat in eggs, then add molasses; beating thoroughly.
  • 2 peel and chop peaches and stir into mixture.
  • 3 combine remaining ingredients and stir into creamed mixture until smooth.
  • 4 pour into greased and floured 9 inch square pan.
  • 5 bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until pick inserted into center comes out dry.
  • 6 cut into squares and top with whipped cream and peach slices if desired.
