Grandma's Snickerdoodles

Total Time: 18 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 8 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2 mix the first three ingredients thoroughly and set aside.
  • 3 in a separate bowl, mix the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. add the mixed dry ingredients to the first mixture.
  • 4 dough may be chilled first. make balls the size of walnuts and roll in a mixture of the remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  • 5 bake on an ungreased cookie sheet. do not place cookies too close together as the balls spread out.
  • 6 bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
