Maple Syrup Layer Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 cream butter and sugar well. add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • 2 blend in maple syrup and vanilla.
  • 3 gradually add sifted dry ingredients by thirds, alternately with the hot water; and ending with dry ingredients. gently stir in walnuts.
  • 4 pour into 2- 8 inch greased and floured layer pans.
  • 5 bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
  • 6 cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. remove layers and cool completely on wire racks.
  • 7 frost.
