Maple-walnut Blondies With Maple Candy Glaze

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 15
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup granulated maple sugar (if you cannot find, substitute with brown sugar)
  • 2/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup maple syrup, real

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 in a medium mixing bowl, cream together brown sugar, maple sugar, butter and eggs. stir in vanilla, baking powder and baking soda. then stir in flour 1 cup at a time until well combined. fold in walnuts.
  • 3 spread batter evenly into a greased 9-inch x 13-inch baking pan. note: the batter will be quite thick.
  • 4 bake for 30 minutes or until done (a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean). cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes.
  • 5 for the glaze: in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring maple syrup to a boil. boil for 5-8 minutes or until syrup reduces by half and is the consistency of a glaze. remove from heat and allow to cool for 2 minutes. one spoonful at a time, drizzle glaze evenly over warm blondies. allow to sit for five minutes until glaze begins to harden--like maple candy.
  • 6 cut blondies into 2-inch pieces and serve. i think these would go really well with maple-walnut ice-cream.
