Ho Po Gai Ding (chicken With Walnuts)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 3
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1 (8 ounce) can bamboo shoots, drained
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • hot cooked rice

Recipe

  • 1 cut chicken breasts into bite-size pieces.
  • 2 combine sugar, ginger, soy sauce, and garlic in bowl.
  • 3 mix in chicken and let stand 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 heat oil in wok on high heat.
  • 5 add walnuts, stir fry for 1 minute, then remove walnuts from wok and set aside.
  • 6 add marinated chicken mixture to hot oil. cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 7 mix in bamboo shoots.
  • 8 blend cornstarch and water and add to wok, stirring until thick.
  • 9 simmer 2 minutes longer, then mix in walnuts.
  • 10 serve over rice.
