Ho Po Gai Ding (chicken With Walnuts)

Ingredients

- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 cup walnuts
- 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 3 tablespoons peanut oil
- 1 (8 ounce) can bamboo shoots, drained
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- hot cooked rice
Recipe
- 1 cut chicken breasts into bite-size pieces.
- 2 combine sugar, ginger, soy sauce, and garlic in bowl.
- 3 mix in chicken and let stand 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4 heat oil in wok on high heat.
- 5 add walnuts, stir fry for 1 minute, then remove walnuts from wok and set aside.
- 6 add marinated chicken mixture to hot oil. cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7 mix in bamboo shoots.
- 8 blend cornstarch and water and add to wok, stirring until thick.
- 9 simmer 2 minutes longer, then mix in walnuts.
- 10 serve over rice.
