Old Fashioned Porridge

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3 cups water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups old fashioned oats (not instant)
  • 2/3 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • chilled milk or heavy cream

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350°f degrees.
  • 2 bring water to a boil, add, salt, reduce heat to medium high and add oats.
  • 3 cook for 5 minutes.
  • 4 transfer the oatmeal to a 6 cup souffle dish.
  • 5 add all the remaining ingredients, except milk.
  • 6 stir until well combined.
  • 7 bake until set (approx 1 hour).
  • 8 spoon into bowls and pour milk, cream on it.
