Maple Syrup And Cranberry Squares

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans or 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 crust : mix flour and brown sugar then incorporate butter until you have a gritty texture.
  • 3 press the preparation in a buttered pan of 23 cm x 33 cm (9 inch x 13 inch). cook in oven 15 minutes or until crust is golden. set aside.
  • 4 garnish : in a saucepan, bring to boil the brown sugar and maple syrup and let simmer 5 minutes.
  • 5 pour the liquid on the beaten eggs, constantly stirring. add rum, flour and salt. pour this mixture on the crust, then add nuts and cranberries.
  • 6 put back in oven for 20 minutes. remove from the oven and let cool before to cut in squares.
