Jack Robinson Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup walnuts

Recipe

  • 1 melt shortening.
  • 2 sift flour.
  • 3 measure.
  • 4 add baking powder, salt and sugar.
  • 5 sift again.
  • 6 add shortening, milk and vanilla.
  • 7 beat 2 minutes
  • 8 add eggs.
  • 9 beat one minute longer.
  • 10 pour into 81/2 x13 1/2 x2" pan which has been greased.
  • 11 beat egg whites until stiff but not dry.
  • 12 add brown sugar gradually.
  • 13 spread on top of cake batter and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  • 14 bake 350º for 35 minutes or until done.
