Jack Robinson Cake

Ingredients
- Servings: 8
- 2 cups cake flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 egg whites
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup walnuts
Recipe
- 1 melt shortening.
- 2 sift flour.
- 3 measure.
- 4 add baking powder, salt and sugar.
- 5 sift again.
- 6 add shortening, milk and vanilla.
- 7 beat 2 minutes
- 8 add eggs.
- 9 beat one minute longer.
- 10 pour into 81/2 x13 1/2 x2" pan which has been greased.
- 11 beat egg whites until stiff but not dry.
- 12 add brown sugar gradually.
- 13 spread on top of cake batter and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- 14 bake 350º for 35 minutes or until done.
